If a word is one syllable, and ends in a “Y”, pronounce it as an “I” sound. 

This is the case in words like “my”, “by”, “shy”. 

If a word is two syllables, and ends in a “Y”, pronounce it as an “E” sound. 

This is the case in words like “happy”, “penny”, “baby”. 

Even with this rule, please keep in mind that the most consistent rule in English is that there is  

always an exception to the rule. 

  

Now, using these words write a short story.
